World’s Fittest Man vs. America’s Fattest Cities:
New Syndicated Column Counters Obesity Crisis

There’s no doubt about it – American’s are fat. And despite all the information out there about the dangers of obesity, the problem is just getting worse. The latest statistics show that 62 percent of Americans are either overweight or obese, compared with 48 percent in 1980.

Joe Decker used to be part of that problem—but now, with the launch of his new syndicated column Get Fit with the World’s Fittest Man—Joe is offering readers in Indianapolis, one of America’s Fattest Cities, the solution! The weekly column appears in Indianapolis’ largest locally owned newspaper network, The ESSN Network News Media.

“We’re extremely proud to have the World’s Fittest Man help our 30,000 Indianapolis readers get fit,” says Tim Hammond, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Circulation for ESSN Network. “Our readers are responding to Joe’s common sense approach to getting in shape and shedding pounds. He answers our readers’ questions with simple and motivating advice.”

Once, Joe Decker was fat and out of shape. But through an amazing personal journey from fat to fittest, Joe transformed himself from flabby farm boy to fitness hero. And Joe didn’t just attain an average level of fitness – he’s achieved fitness stardom – breaking the 2000 Guinness World Records “24 Hour Physical Fitness Challenge.”

Recently back from Africa after completing the “World’s Toughest Foot Race,” the Marathon des Sables, a 145 mile trek through the blistering heat of the Sahara Desert, Joe is finishing his first fitness book. The World’s Fittest You: Four Weeks to Total Fitness will be published by Penguin Dutton next January. Joe has also signed a deal with Today Show co-host Al Roker and his production company, Al Roker Productions, to develop a health and fitness television show.
