Meet the Trainers of Gut Check Fitness, San Diego's #1 Boot Camp
Sarah Domurat
Born and raised in San Diego, Sarah grew up playing competitive field hockey and soccer. Her love of snowboarding took her Boulder, Colorado for college. While attending CU she joined the triathlon team and was introduced the crazy world of endurance sports. Eventually she left the road and began mountain biking and trail running. Post-graduate work/play took her to Telluride, CO and then Durango, CO.
After completing 2 ½ years at Fort Lewis College in an Athletic Training Program, she passed her certification exam (2006) and moved back to San Diego to pursue her M.S. degree. As a Certified Athletic Trainer, Sarah has worked in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and sports performance with athletes of all levels including collegiate, high school, weekend warriors, and professionals. In 2007, she began her master's degree at SDSU studying exercise physiology and nutritional sciences.
Sarah is a strong proponent of functional fitness; life doesn't happen in a straight line, so why would it make sense to work out in one. Bridging the fields of sports medicine, exercise physiology, and nutrition is a perfect way to help individuals attain their goals of becoming more healthy and fit. She is excited about joining the Gut Check Fitness Family; there is a whole lot of fun and hard work to be had.
Megan Yu
Meg has been addicted to Gut Check Fitness for three years and is a believer in the outdoor-playground, functional-fitness, community-building philosophies that Joe Decker has built this company upon.
Born and raised on The Big Island of Hawai'i, she's naturally drawn to exploring the outdoors. In 2007, about a year after moving to San Diego, Meg found her love and passion for ultra-running (trail runs over the marathon distance). The 'gateway' distance of a 50k soon led to 50miles, which then climaxed in a 100miler. This was accomplished with the 'gut check' mentality of "what you put in, is what you get out."
As a mother of four, Meg understands the need for taking good care of our body/mind/spirit and prioritizing life to reach the necessary balance. Her daily life is focused on faith, children/youth, education, service, ultra-running, and maintaining health.
